Courtney gets out of the hospital!

Courtney left the hospital to head to the Sheperd Center in Atlanta! She had a smooth transition to the Shepherd Center today. You can see the front page photo from the Athens Banner-Herald on the welcome page. As Heather shared, you can read the article at: http://www.onlineathens.com/

If you would like to send Courtney a card, it may be sent to Courtney Gale—ABI floor, Shepherd Center,

Sgt Courtney Gale's Update

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts for Courtney... She is progressing little by little but because of my work schedule I have been unable to visit her since she has become alert.

Courtney's update is as follows:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2008 10:15 AM, CST
This Friday, Courtney is tentatively scheduled to be transferred to the nationally renowned spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation hospital, Shepherd Center, in Atlanta. She has been making impressive progress in her recovery this past week, showing flashes of her humorous personality, working on using a fork and spoon to eat, and conversing with us regularly; however, she will need to undergo intensive physical, cognitive, and occupational therapies to regain her small motor skills, core strength, ability to walk, improve her short term memory, and other abilities. The full extent of her cognitive issues will be evaluated at the hospital. We are very encouraged that she is ready to move on to this next stage of her recovery process.

Early nights, Early days.....

Me working is always an adjustment..... The boys are spending a great deal of time with their grandparents and their father which they so much enjoy.....

They are adapting to the cold weather by doing what a lot of HS kids do; stay in their PJ's and enjoying the indoor activities after their school work is done......

I'm doing my open to close hours at the office and for a couple weeks it is for 7 days a week..... :):) it will soon be over but for now the extra $$ is nice!!

The S's are adapting to K working as well. We have not seen them as much as we would like because K is working in our Corp office.... Would have been nice to work with her but we are both enjoying the time back in the office atmosphere.....

Off to bed, 6:15am comes horribly early (who knew there was both a 6:15 am and pm???)

Snow in GA!!!!!

Yes, you read correctly! We have snow in GA! Of course it had to happen at 10pm at night so the boys got dressed and went out to play in it for a while.

After a hike up to Nana and Grandpa's we were horribly cold and had to come inside to get warm.....

It won't be long and the snow will be gone and the ice will come but for now, everything is quiet, white and pretty. Just a little bit of home shining through on these little flakes that are falling.

As you can see, the boys were very excited and thrilled to make a snowball or two and throw them at each other; even if it was only a little tiny bit!

The Trikke!

Mark brought his Trikke down and we had a great time fooling around on it.

Yesterday we rode it out in front of the house but there was much to much traffic so this morning we went to MiMi's and rode it around her house for a while.

Scott and I thought it would be cool to try it out at the park since that is probably where we would ride them if we got them.

It was so neat trying to learn how to ride! I can say that I have used every strange muscle in my body and I am a bit sore this afternoon but it was worth it! Mark could have left it here for us!!! But no, he took it home with him. He is very good at making it go and by this afternoon Scott and I were getting much better.

While we were riding at the park, the boys had fun riding their scooters and then Q had great fun catching a ride with Scott and I!

I love the photo of Mark with the cars behind him!

It really kind of made me mad because Walter jumped on it and was able to make it go like nothing! Talk about frustrating! I wanted to be able to jump on it and make it go!

Happy Birthday!

Saturday both Scott and I had to work and then Pamela and I had to run to Athens to sign up for the K-Mart weight loss thing that they are doing. We had plans with the S's and Mark was going to come down from Hotlanta to hang out.

We bought a cool Table for Walter's B-day and planned a night of pizza, cake and plenty of Rock Band!

Mr. X hung out with the boys for the day while we worked and then came back to hang out with all of us. We had a wild and fun night!

Walter had to finish up some work and when he was done we had cake and continued to play Rock Band. It has been the best investment in fun!

Walter LOVED his table that we got him and would not leave it here even though he had to carry it home on his lap!! We scored with the gift and I was so pleased that we had found it! The 4 boys of course had a great night, taking turns with the adults playing rock band, playing WOW on the puters, playing in their room and just running like mad-men around the house while the adults (and I use that term very loosely!) played Rock Band!

Sgt Courtney Gale

Courtney remains in the ICU of St. Mary's today and continues to make gradual improvements; however, as the old adage goes, she seems to take "two steps forward, one back." With that in mind, there has been a small improvement with her kidneys, but she still requires dialysis. Although her lungs generally look good according to the doctors, this past Friday she had fluid drained from her left lung. Over the past week, Courtney has been trying to communicate with us and seems agitated, but we can only understand her intermittently. Nonetheless, we are pleased that she did get some restful sleep this weekend.

Sleep over and more!

I have officially started back to work. This year I will be working in a different office and overall no one is to happy about it! Although it will be closer to home, I will miss my friends in my old office. The new office that I will be going to is going to be fun and challenging but I still am not looking forward to not working with K and R.

We did some cleaning this weekend, helped dad with wood and managed to move the couch into the office where it actually fits well and is nicer than the old one.

Mr. X and P came over for a bit of shooting arrows during the boys Sunday school lesson with Mr. X. We are not usually welcome in their Sunday lessons but were invited in and I was able to get some shots.

The boys had a sleepover with their friend whom they have not seen in a while. The event did not last as long as any of them wanted and it was to soon for his mother to come get him.
Dad's new cat is huge and both cats enjoy the top of the ladder in his shop, he says that when they really get playing they run up and down it. No one but dad can get near this black one but he can make it climb up the ladder and lay down.

Today is the last day that I will have the luxury of going in at 9 and my hours for the next several weeks will be 8-8 for the most part. Still unsure to exactly how I will hold up for everything while maintaining some kind of work out schedule and time with Scott and the boys!

Played a bit a cards with MiMi and won all three games which was a great thing for me! I set the boys schedule and gave them each a copy and made an extra for Scott so that we were all on the same page.
Pamela starts teaching her night schedule this week and she is going to be pushing herself as well!

Mom, Dad and Mimi are going to be watching the boys on and off as well as a little bit of Mr. X and Pam (I hope..) with some Jeff thrown in! Hopefully peak won't be that bad and I will be able to train this new office pretty well.

Zach Looses Front Tooth!

Go Zach! Go Zach!......

Zach lost one of his front teeth yesterday while I was at work! He was so excited! He has been messing with it for days.......

This is the best photo I could get, he was getting embarrassed that I was trying to take a photo of him.

Visitors from Home!

We have visitors from home here overnight. Aunt Joyce and Dan stopped down on their way to Florida! It was so great to see them and spend some time with them; and truthfully, just give them a hug!
